CTAP Region 8

District Tech Plans

District Tech Plans help focus development of technology use in a district or charter. While EETT Technology plans have been written in California, the dwindling funds may also cause you to choose to write an ERate only plan.  Please consider your options carefully as and approved EETT plan is required for acquisition of funding for EETT Formula Grants, K-12 Vouchers and E-Rate. These plans must meet the requirements of Appendix C. E-Rate only plans are only for erate discounts.  Workshops are held periodically By CTAP 8 to provide guidance for Tech Plan Writing. Please check to see if one is being offered in the time frame you require. Websites and documents below should provide additional guidance.
To be eligible for EETT Formula funding, tech plans must be submitted electronically in one of these cycles to:

Stacey Stansberry, Kern County area
Debbie Guardado, San Luis Obispo County area
Mary Standlee, Santa Barbara County area
Dana Greenspan, Ventura County area

Technology Planning Steps

1. Preparing to write:
The first step is to review the expiring technology plan if there is one. After that, consult the
Technology Planning Guide.  This guide will assist you in planning your technology changes from curriculum, to professional development, to infrastructure and budget.  Planning the changes for your district with all stakeholders ensures everyone's needs are considered.

2. Writing the plan:

Once the stakeholders have met, the writing team has been established, and the Technology Planning Guide has been reviewed, it’s time to get writing. Begin by looking at
Appendix C for the EETT Formula Grant. This is the criteria that determines which plans pass state-level review. Consider choosing a writing template.  The plan can now be written online by using the Tech Plan Builder site http://www.myctap.org.  You will need to sign up under the New User section for access to the site.  This site will allow you to create and revise your plan together with colleagues.  You will also see helpful information for completing each section and the tables will be inserted where needed.  CTAP is here to assist as the team begins to write and/or at least provide feedback as drafts are finished.

3. Submit the plan:
Before you submit the plan, review the Technology Planning Checklist to make sure everthing is in order. Submit the technology plan to your local CTAP representative. Please see the appropriate list at the top of this page.
