Friends Forever

World Wide Learning

Students are motivated to be connected, but much of the education world is not sure how to connect them. Students reach out, but adults worry about safety.  How can we harness the power of social networking to encourage learning in our schools, without putting anyone at risk?

The Global Learning Exchange program urges collaborative learning across the world through videoconferencing.

Teachers share lesson plans and direct student learning and sharing with their classrooms. The purpose of the program is to promote learning and understanding in a way that directly supports the curriculum goals of each country.

If you are interested in finding a partner classroom, this is the place for you! Be sure to check out our registration and safety procedures.

Vision Statement

With the globalization of industry, innovation and technologies, there is a need for students to not only discover other cultures, but to understand how their environment, culture, ideas and education fit together with a shrinking world. Traditional education prepares students to succeed in a traditional world.

Effective education for the future must expand beyond traditional boundaries. The Global Learning Exchange seeks to facilitate this expansion, through the sharing, comparing, contrasting and collaborating on learning assignments in a wide variety of subject areas. Educators and students are encouraged to share their work not only to establish communication and understanding, but to give their own work value and perspective by understanding how that knowledge compliments and contrasts with the learning of others.

Successful members of future societies will be able to interact beyond their borders. Successful education will move beyond those borders as well. The goal is to understand one's own learning and cultural values in the context of the entire world, to truly prepare students for the realities of the 21st century and beyond.
